Haha! If you didn’t know who Rainbow Brite was then that is a very apt description. On Halloween someone asked me if she was an egg. ??? I’ve never seen an egg with star antenna (antennai?) and a little red pouch to hold color sprinkles… or cheerios. That must have been a chicken hopped up on something!

comPLETely adorable. Both of you. But especially Twink, who does not look a bit like an egg. Left you a comment after yours on the mmm…crafts post.

These costumes totally ROCK! (Some of my favorite memories as a child are of reading these two little Rainbow Brite books over and over again.) Way to go!

    Hi there!!
I replied to your pics on another blog. My name is Gaby larson. The costume for your little one is the most amazing costume I have ever seen!!! I am desperately looking to find how to make a Twink costume for my 1 year old. My daughter Maddie is going to have a Rainbow Brite for her 5th birthday so we bought her a Rainbow Brite handmade costume. Their 2 year old sister is going to be patty O’green and I am desperately looking for a Twink costume. I wanted to see if you could tell me how did you make it? Do you sell stuff like that? I cannot seem to find any to buy so I wanna find somebody that could make it for us. Was it hard to make. Please any help I would so so so appreciate it!!! I am desperate!!

I LOVE this, do you make things and sell them on Etsy or anywhere? I would LOVE to buy a Rainbow Bright Costume in Large. I LOVE how cute and flirty it is without being one of those sleazy cleavage showing costumes now made for women as the only options.

Even better I would LOVE to be a Care Bear if there is some way to make a cute adult woman’s costume.

    • October 5, 2011 11:13 am

I don’t make costumes. Sorry! But, this rainbow costume would be a pretty easy costume to put together. It is a bright blue dress with a red belt. Then you’ll need two pairs of tall rainbow socks. Cut the feet off one pair to wear on your arms and you are good to go. Really it’s the rainbow socks that make this costume. Easy and relatively inexpensive for a HUGE impact! Good luck!

So so awesome that you’ve posted the tutorial for these costumes! I saw this in August & fell in love. You absolutely inspired me. I asked a friend if she could try to whip up anything similar to it and she did. She did an amazing job. My daughter who is 8 mos old just wore it for Halloween & everyone has been talking about her costume for days now. Thank you for the inspiration!

I’m throwing a kids of the 80’s 30th surprise party for my husband! I’m dressing our 2yr old as Twink. Found an easier way to make the white jumpsuit…I found a snowman hooded fluffy suit on amazon.com. All I have to do is take the hat, scarf and buttons off the snowman suit and it’s ready to be turned into a Sprite!

Ive always thought about being rainbow brite myself and never did but now i might have to learn how to stitch so i can make this for next year. Any ideas on were to start are there classes i can learn the basics? and do you think knowing the basics i can make something like this? Thank you for sharing you and your twink look amazing! 🙂 *new momma*

I made this costume for my 2 yr old in April. Had a kids of the 80’s theme 30th surprise party for my hubby:) I used a snowman costume took off embellishments and made it into a Twink costume:) I have pics. It costs me under 20 bucks to make it and it was easy.

      • October 18, 2012 12:16 am

I do not make or sell costumes for anyone but me and my daughter. Sorry! It’s just that to justify the time spent on sewing for hire I have to charge a lot. It has to be worth giving up time with my family.

The rainbow socks and arm sleeves are the key to the Rainbow Brite costume. And you can get them on Amazon. And as for my daughters Twink costume, I have a link to the free tutorial on what I did at the beginning of this post. 🙂 I hope you can find something that works for you!

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year
old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
