Another Halloween Story
Instead of eating myself into a coma and going to sleep for a hundred years, like I threatened to do yesterday, I made something healthy for dinner, and then after Creamie went to sleep I made this quick little clutch. And I feel better. But I’m not going to pull that suitcase out from under my bed. It’s staying right there.
Instead I’m reposting these pictures from Halloween last year. Creamie started to walk just a few weeks before Halloween (at only 7.5 months old) and watching her trot around in this big puffy costume is one of my very dearest memories. I borrowed the Rainbow Costume from my sister, and made the Twink costume for my own little sidekick. These days Creamie loves her Rainbow Brite books. And that make me happy.
UPDATE: I wrote a DIY tutorial for the Twink costume after two years of requests. Here it is.
Rainbow Brite and her trusty sidekick Twink. Inspiration pictures found here.
In other fabulous new: Yesterday I got to catch real snowflakes on my tongue. I can’t wait for real winter and snow. It’s my most favorite 5 months of the year.
Oooh! I want to see that clutch! I’ve got it on my to-do list. Was it easy?
Sorry about your costume. I feel that way with some of my quilts. It’s also why I procrastinate some things (like my ball gown) because i’m afraid I’ll totally screw it up!
awesome pictures!!!
Brilliant way to get yourself out of a funk. And that clutch has a zipper too. Good for you!
So cute!!! I love these pictures! so rainbow-ish~
See….that project you made last night had a lovely zipper in it, keep it up:)
I made a pathetic shirt for AJ last night out of shiny purple fabric for her medusa costume – not my finest hour. I have decided I hate sewing stretch fabric!!
I was just talking about your rainbow bright costume yesterday at work and how amazing it was. You are so amazing!!
So glad you posted those happy fun photos from last year (which took place in my BPSS days). Adorable to the max.
you’re gonna be a zipper maniac. Is the clutch Rainbow Brite themed? Because I’d totally dig that.
Also–this pics still slay me, so cute.

Wow you made her costume perfectly! Such cuteness in these pics 🙂
I’m so sorry your plan didn’t work out. Boo.
If it’s any consolation, my child wears store-bought costumes every year because he won’t let me make anything (and I don’t push it!). I wish I could attempt the amazing things you’re doing:-)
Pink,
You guys are SO awesome in your matching costumes!
That clutch is super cute — can’t wait to see yours.
Also, I’ve done my fair share of last minute costume sewing and had a few years when I just gave in because things weren’t going my way and I totally regret those. Call me and I’ll come help with getting the matching mama peacock costume finished. I’m not joking.

That is so precious! How special that you made coordinating costumes! And your daughter looks so adorable.
Sweet sweet post! Creamie walked at 7.5 months?!!! That’s just amazing!
holy crum these are so cute!
and I can’t believe she walked that early!!! S was just figuring out how to crawl!
thank you for showing us (me)! 🙂
Oh my gosh, that’s so cute!!
I wish people like you really existed.
Oh wait. YOU exist. I just don’t see you as often as I once did.
I wish in MY existance I was like YOU.
Or at least like Rainbow Bright. Loved that girl. Love YOU.
HI There!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Twink costume for your little girl! I have been looking for a Twink costume or a pattern for a looong time and I can’t seem to find anything. I was wondering if you have a pattern you’d like to share??
Do you have a pattern for the twink costume? I am dressing my oldest as Rainbow Brite this year and would love to make my 1yr old a Twink Costume to go with her sisters! You can email me at c_christiansen_00@yahoo.com.. Thanks!
Oh my! This is the greatest thing, ever! Do you have a pattern that you worked from that you would be willing to share/sell?
I have a Rainbow Brite costume that I didn’t get to wear last year, as I was 8.5 mos pregnant – so really want to wear it this year, and hope my munchkin will be my Twink sidekick…
(Haha – just saw Stacey’s post above! I suppose you must get these requests quite a bit.)
I hope to hear back from you! (jaclynmacrae@me.com)
Do know where I could find patterns for the costumes? If so, could you please email me?
There aren’t patterns for these. My mom and sister designed the dress pattern years ago. I am writing a post on how I made the twink costume that will be ready in a week or two. I’ll update this post with the link to the tutorial when it’s ready!
yay! i REALLY want to make the twink costume for my little one for halloween this year! waiting patiently for the tutorial!
I would love to see that tutorial! I just got a Rainbow Brite costume for my 4 yr. old and want to make a Twink costume for her little 2 yr. old brother. I’m not much of a seamstress, but up for a challenge 🙂
The twink costume is so adorable! I have been trying to find a pattern or costume for sell, would love to see the tutorial! I have only sewn one little dress since home ec class – about 15 years ago, lol!
