Slow Days and Big Glasses

June 30, 2011

Since Pink Week is over I’ve been spending my days doing absolutely nothing.  Kind of.  But it has been really fun to spend time on projects that don’t have a (self imposed) deadline.  Projects that i don’t feel the need to photograph every single step.  Or make sure I finish between the hours of 3 and 6:30 pm so I have decent light at my house to photograph them.  (Our condo only has west facing windows and if I take a picture inside before 3 then it looks blue and cold and weird.)

Today I am going to play with this hilarious person, go to Costco for more strawberries and make jam.  And maybe bread too.  Rainy days call for warm homemade bread.  I hope it clears up this afternoon, because we are planning on going to a baseball game.  Sitting on the grass and watching the sun go down is a pretty perfect way to spend a summer evening.  And then we throw a baseball game in for a little entertainment as well.  I love slow days.  What’s your favorite lazy day activity?  You know, besides procrastinating cleaning the kitchen floor so you can enjoy the pure laziness.  Ahem.

My latest trick is letting the girls play with thier water table outside while I sit in the shade a read a book. I mean, I don’t have a fence so I have to be outside with them – right??? 🙂

I just made 4 batches of strawberry jam with my son. That should last us the year! Woohoo.
I honestly don’t have a lazy day activity. It drives my husband crazy that I don’t every ‘just sit’. It’s not in my DNA. I wish it were – I would read more.

Lazy day activity? Isn’t that a misnomer? LOL! Actually, mine is sewing. Working on my next quilt. Or testing someone else’s latest pattern. Or really doing anything that involves fondling fabric.

Now, for a wonderful lazy evening, my favorite thing would be sitting out on our deck with my sweetheart and a nice adult beverage, watching the fireflies twinkle in the woods behind our house. Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh …………. what a wonderful way to end the day.
