Finishing Up

April 8, 2011

Today’s goal is to finish the quilting on this quilt today.  (If you weren’t around last fall, when I finished the top, this quilt is made from Scott’s dad’s clothes.  He passed away last Spring.  I made two more memory quilts at Christmas time for his brother and sister.)

Scott's quilt 3

I’ve had the fabrics since last May. I started sewing in September, finished in October and it’s been sitting there ever since. I’m piecing the back together right now and then I’ll spend the rest of my day wrangling this giant quilt. I can’t wait!  Oh, and wish me luck!

I just want to know how you made all your squares line up so perfectly. Seriously, it’s beautiful. Good work, and good luck, not that you need it. You’re amazing.

So I just had to write you a little note. I’ve been following your blog for about a year and I love it! But I have to share a story…I went to a thrift store here in Downtown Dallas while I was waiting for my husband to get off work. I have never been there and happened to not have my kids with me so I thought I would stop in. Within a minute of walking in I was in love. They had THREE colored sewing machines!! The pink one you blogged about last year, a tourqoise and white one, and a smokey lavender one. I was going crazy! I wanted all of them and they were 50% off, but still a little pricey at around $50-$70. BUT I had to PASS! And it makes my heart ache! We’re moving in the fall and live in a tiny appartment now so storage is an issue. I want them SO bad. I have great plans of having a sewing room someday with vintage machines on a shelf surrounding the room. I knew you might appreciate knowing you were one of the first people I thought of, even though we’ve never met. And no one else seems to get how cool they are!
Thanks for all your great posts!
