A Typewriter for Creamie

January 12, 2011

Creamie is going to turn two in less than two weeks.  She is getting so grown up.  Last night she insisted on taking a shower by herself.  She stood in there for 25 minutes, singing to herself and playing.  She used her little washcloth to make a bed for the baby Jesus (she still plays with her Christmas nativity everyday).  She’d poke her head out every few minutes and say “Almost done.  One more minute.”  She is so funny it kills me.

I’ll let you in on a secret if you promise not to tell.  This cute toy typewriter is one of her birthday presents.  I bought it from this shop and it got here last week.  She always wants to play with my typewriters and I think she is going to LOVE having her very own. This one isn’t my first choice in children’s typewriters, but it will do for now.  But I am still on the lookout for a red Sears Holiday typewriter or a turquoise/blue Petite International in good working order.  Or in good enough working order that Stan can get them into good working order.

For now my pink Beauty is taking care of little Tomy, keeping him out of trouble until he moves into Creamie’s room.  Right now they are hanging out in my craft room, because it is the only room in our house that Creamie doesn’t go into.  (Yes, she is well trained… and I maybe lock the door.)  I have three more typewriters, but they are all in different corners under various piles of stuff.  I’m hoping to get a new bookcase in a few weeks to help me organize all the piles in my room.  The stuff is threatening to take over.  If I don’t do something about it soon I won’t be able to open the door.

But of all the stuff in there, I think this Beauty is my favorite.  I never get tired of looking at her, and I’m so glad she’s mine.  Happy Wednesday.

That is my favorite picture of Beauty. I think I need notecards made. I love the washi in the background.

“A Typewriter for Creamie” sounds like the title of a children’s book about a milk cow who yearns to be an author.

Wowowowow. That pink typewriter is out of this world! such a lovely colour of pink.

My brother was cleaning out his room and found that he had an old typewriter from a vintage shop that he got a few years ago. It is beautiful and made me think of you so much!

I was a little ashamed when I asked “where is the enter button?”. To find out that infact..there is no enter button. My generation have it waaay too easy. hehe.

    Pink,

If you ever get tired of Creamie, she can come and live at my house. She is seriously adorable.

P.S. The typewriter is pretty great, too. I think she’ll love it.

I love your blog! I makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. 🙂 And I enjoy sewing at midnight as well!

Just curious…does your pink beauty really type? Boy, if it does, I’m envious. Even though I’m not THAT much of a pink lover. 🙂 Certainly wouldn’t mind finding myself a black beauty…but in thrift store where it might not cost all the change from the couch, my piggy bank and what we have stuffed under the mattress combined!

This is so sweet. My twins are 20 months old and I can not imagine them taking showers by themselves (together)! I like the typewriter you got better than those other two. I’m sure Creamie will love it. Happy Birthday, Creamie!

I have a red and white Sears Holiday typewriter, made in England in the 50’s. It’s in the case and in working order. It’s going to need new ribbon though (it has a ribbon in it now, but it’s dry). I was going to put it in yard sale this weekend for $20.00. If you’re interested, e-mail me.
