“Love is a temporary madness
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides,
you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have intertwined together,
that it is inconceivable
that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion.
That is just being “in love”,
which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over
when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly have roots that grow
towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.”

After 16 years, maybe it’s time I got our wedding photos out of the duotang and into that lovely wood covered album my mom gave us as a wedding gift….your scrap-booked pages are beautiful.
Today is our anniversary and that was so beautiful to read. It is our second anniversary so that is so ringing true. When times are hard and things aren’t like you always daydreamed they would be, but still being there..that is love. Thank you so much for sharing that. You really never know who needs to hear what you have to say.
