Playing in the Woods

October 18, 2011

So you know that magic drug that was supposed to keep us all well for the rest of the winter? Big Giant Fail.  I think I might just have to settle for Creamie being sick for half of the winter.  If she leaves our house she is bound to get sick.  Church, school, library, dance class…. she picks stuff up everywhere we go.  (And yes, I give her vitamin C and vegetables and use hand sanitizer obsessively after we go to icky places.)  Anyway, here are a few more pictures from our weekend away at the cabin.  It was just as fun as it looks.

playing tetherball

She is wearing a thrifted vintage sweater, white cardigan from aWalmart,  thrifted skinny jeans and her favorite boots I found a few weeks ago for $3 at a thrift store.  She wears those things almost everyday!

If you ask her what her favorite part about the cabin was it was making a fire and eating dinner in front of it.  When we move a wood fireplace is high up on the list of things we don’t think we can live without.

my little helper

Last night we picked a few boxes of apples from my mom’s neighbors tree.  I think most of the rest of the week will be consumed with making applesauce and apple pie filling to can.  With my little helper at my side it is sure to take 100 times longer than necessary and be a lot messier than usual.  And a lot more fun.  See you soon.  And one day maybe we’ll remember to bring a tripod so we can get at least one picture with all of us together.  But whatever, she’s the cutest one in the family anyway.

She’s such a great little helper. That says a lot about your patience – you’re such a wonderful mom. Ok, I’m going to throw some unsolicited advice at you. I attended a Food Safe class today and we were told never to have hand sanitizer in a kitchen, or to use it at all. Why? Because it kills all the good bacteria, too. And the bad guys just get stronger and more resistant. The message was: hot soapy water. I’m only the messenger…..

She is adorable. These pictures make me smile. A lot.

Sorry you are still battling the sickies. That is uber lameness to the tenth degree. Have you tried cod liver oil for Creamie? The vitamin D can be really beneficial to the immune system. Hang in there and let me know if you need anything!
