Art Journal: It’s Time

July 30, 2011

It’s time.  Time to buy tiny pink underwears and do a lot more tiny pink laundry.  I don’t imagine that it is going to go well…. I’m pretty much counting on disaster actually.  (I kind of have a life view that if you expect and plan for the worst possible outcome, then you are very rarely dissappointed, and more often than not things turn out to be surprisingly wonderful.)

It's Time

And that’s all I’m going to say about it.  She is excited, I think she can do it.  And we have one month until she starts school.  On a semi related note: WHY ARE ALL TINY LITTLE UNDERWEARS COVERED WITH LICENSED CHARACTER PRINTS!  Ahem, I might have to make them myself.  Because I so do not buy into Disney underwear.  The End.

*This little book is Creamie’s journal, it’s only about 6 maybe 7 inches square.  I don’t keep a real journal about her growing up, but I’ll draw pictures and write down things she says in here.  It felt like the right place to mark this milestone.

Good luck 🙂 I’m in and out of training my 2yo right now. It sucks. Both my girls have character underwear. It gets them really excited. I hate character stuff, but at least the world won’t see them because they’re hidden.

Your art journals are the COOLEST. I wish I made the time to do this because I know it would be the most incredible thing to look back on in years to come. Especially when she’s 90 years old and wearing pink disposable diapers. 🙂 I love the “underwearS” part, by the way. 🙂

Have you tried Old Navy for Gap for teeny tiny underwears? Theirs are my favorite for the boxer/brief variety. (I don’t do licensed characters either) :] Or Gymboree. They’re pricey, but sooo soft and they hold up really well. I wait for a sale!

I’m pretty sure the 4/04 issue of Ottobre Design has a cute girls’ undies pattern :). I haven’t made any yet for my girl, but I’m thinking about it.

I don’t like that about kids underwear either! They aren’t that hard to make yourself, and I’d bet it might be a very good motivator!

That is sooo exciting! Good luck! I’m ready for lil bit to start but she isn’t quite there yet. I’m with you on the undies too. And then you can sometimes see them through shorts and dresses.

Good luck! This is one of my least favorite parts of parenthood, but once it’s done… heaven! Minus all the potty trips and and carrying extra supplies in case of accidents and everything, that is.

And as for the character undies–I just don’t even care. If it means my kids will do their business in the toilet, they can have all the character underwear they want. Somethings are just more important to me. 🙂
