Hello Pink Week
June 19, 2011
So my day has turned out a lot different than I had planned. Nothing major, but it wasn’t exactly my idea of the best way to spend my Sunday, or kick off Pink Week either. Soooooo,.. let’s pretend that Pink Week starts tomorrow.
Come back in the afternoon and that will give me another few hours to get myself put together. Oh, and it’s gonna be awesome. Happy Pink Week, um tomorrow.
I love it that you’re celebrating pink week. Such fun!
I can’t wait to see all of your pinkalicious stuff.
First of all, so excited for pink week! I just know it’s going to be great.
Secondly I have to share a thrift this week. Well actually a garage sale find. Here in Dallas garage sales are crazy. You wouldn’t believe it until you go to them. These million dollar neighborhoods have THE BEST sales. I have gotten crazy designer stuff for just a couple bucks and kid toys galore. Anyways, this week I went to a moving sale at this huge house. They had all the random odd and end stuff and then a pile of linens. I immediately spotted them. Two vintage quilts. Beautiful hand quilted quilts. And they were only $2! That’s right, two bucks each! I was dying. The lady said they were her grandma’s, I almost yelled “and you’re selling them?! I’m bet she’s rolling over in her grave!”
Once I got the quilts home I took a closer look at them. One is in great shape with just two little tears. It’s so pretty. The other is a little more worn, but it’s way more interesting. It looks like it was several women that put it together, each block has a name embroidered on it. And in the corner it says “Hookers of – ’33”. Can this quilt really be nearly 80 years old? And made by hookers? 🙂 I’m sure they weren’t hookers, maybe it’s a last name or a quilting group name. The quilt is really beautiful. I love them both and I’m so happy they’re in a home where they are appreciated. I will love them forever.
I just had to share my love of vintage quilts with someone who would understand. Thank you for your blog. I really love it!
I have always believed in the week starting on Monday, anyway!!

Hello! Your works are so elegant. Great touch of design and.. high class! I really love the typewriter photo. Do you give permissions to use it, like in a blog logo or a photo collage?
No, I don’t give permission to use my photos. But thank you for asking.
