Blue Christmas

December 22, 2010

This morning I am trying to finish up all my gifts, at last count I’ve still got five in various stages of completion, and one that is not yet started at all.  I was up till 2 last night working on them, and I think it’s safe to say there will be a few more late nights.

I came across this video today (Thanks Lyndi!), and it might just be my favorite Christmas song ever.  Blue Christmas, by First Aid Kit.

I’m also listening to Sufjen Stevens, Bright Eyes, Johnny Cash and Elvis Christmas Albums.  What is your favorite Christmas music?  And how much do you have left to do before Saturday morning!

Bruce Cockburn’s Christmas album is a fav, also we’ve got a custom holiday CD we made as our card many years ago that I love to put into rotation every year. It features my fav, the Charlie Brown Christmas! And uh, yup, 3 more gifts to make. Yikes.

I’ve always loved Rockin Around The Christmas Tree, Oh Holy Night and a few others.
This year, for some reason, I’ve loved John Lennon’s ‘So This is Christmas’. I heard another version and finally understood the words!! I thought it was beautiful at the time.

I’ve gotta finish up sewing my puppets (all the hand sewing is done, and they’re pinned together, I just need to sew around the edges–the quick and easy part, I hope). And then I need to go get another 12 inches or so of pink ric-rac to finish up that skirt I posted earlier–I ran out with just a couple inches to go. Lame. And then I was planning on sewing together the girls’ quilts, but I just don’t see that happening. So I’m enjoying what’s already done. 🙂

I’ve been enjoying the Glee cd this year, along with a bluegrass mix my neighbor made for me–I love it! Good luck getting everything done, it’s the best time of the year, right?

I tend to love the classics – Bing, Dean, Nat, etc. My grandma always listened to them and this time of year always reminds me of her. I really like the video you posted though. I still have to do ALL of my wrapping – ok so it’s only like 7 presents but still, I need to get it done.
