Reversible Skirt
My friend Amy who hosts Sew &Tell every week is very pregnant with a new baby girl. She also has a four year old little girl and a while back she made this adorable skirt for her. About a month ago she mentioned that she had added more length to it so her first born could wear it a little longer. That’s when I struck upon an idea! In my late night chats with Amy we’ve discovered that we both have a profound love for Sandi Henderson’s Farmers Market line of fabric (among other amazing similarities). I did Creamie’s nursery in that line (posts here and here) and I am currently collecting all the little bits I can to make her a twin size quilt so I don’t have to give it up when she grows out of her crib. Anyway, when Amy mentioned a month ago that she had fixed the skirt so her daughter could keep wearing it I knew just what to do. I pulled out a little fabric and in less than an hour I had whipped up this cute little thing. Well, two things… it’s reversible.
(Creamie would only cooperate for pictures after I gave her a little broom. When we were done she had a nice little pile. The floor was much dirtier than I thought! But isn’t that always the case.)
Now cute little baby who has yet to be named (or born, so it’s OK… they have time) will have a matching skirt to wear with her big sister next year. Plus the reverse side will give her one more skirt to wear. (My two biggest sewing neurosis are I have to line everything, and if there is a way to make it reversible I will- like the apron I made for Creamie’s birthday) Nothing better than two for one! I’m working on a tutorial for these that will hopefully be up next week-ish. Happy Weekend everyone. I’m going to work on some new projects and spend some time cuddling Creamie and my hubby. (And I almost promise not to go to crazy with the weekend thrifting adventures… maybe.)

What an adorable skirt! I wish your neurosis of lining things was contagious–I don’t like lining, but love it on other peoples’ stuff! 🙂

Your little cream puff is adorable in her skirt! I saw the one you sent Amy on her blog too. That is so sweet of you. She said you love VW Bugs. Me too! The old ones, though. I’ve never owned a new one.
