Better than Easter Eggs!

So I freely admit that I have an addiction. If I see something I like I have to have it in every single possible color. I’ve had it as long as I remember. My favorite present when I was little was the big box of 4 million different colored crayons. And spring weather brings this addiction right to the surface. Last year instead of Easter eggs in my basket I had washi tape. Lots of it. And this year I have this.

Divine Twine in every color. Eeep! One of my favorite etsy shops, sugarbsupplies, recently listed sample packs of twine, I know, awesome right? Ten yards of awesome in every color. I could hardly order it fast enough. And it arrived this week, and it is just so pretty. Last year sometime I picked up a bunch of vintage wooden clothespins at the thrift store and last night I spent a few minutes wrapping all my twine around those cute pins.

And I am pretty sure that a Pyrex bowl of colored twine is quite possibly the best Easter basket I’ve ever had. Well, you know, except for last years. Next year maybe I’ll splurge and buy a whole spool of each color! Sigh, I’ll stick with my little clothespins for now.

They are so pretty. It kind of reminds me of candy in a bowl, or ice cream. And I should be eating it with a spoon. Or something.

Let them Eat Pie

Happy Pi Pie Day! Today is 3.14 and in the math world that means you celebrate pi, but in the rest of the world that means you celebrate pie. And so I am. And it is going to look kind of like this. It usually does anyway. So since my pie isn’t going to happen until after dinner, and I am so NOT a food-tographer, here are a few pretties to make you smile. And drool on your keyboard.

Also, can I just throw out there that I really wish I had been as into looking at wedding blogs 8 years ago as I am now. Most of these pics are from the handful of wedding blogs I read. And if I had as many good ideas 8 years ago as I have now? Well, I don’t know. The important thing is that I married Scott and we are happier now and more in love now than we were then. But if I was going to do it all again? There would definitely be pie. Lots and lots of pie.

And maybe I’ll try these little tiny pies. Because do you want to know what’s better than pie? Baby pie. Happy Pi(e) Day!

In Love with Roller Skates

I might have mentioned that I am slightly OCD. I mean, my closet is an OCD dream room, someone actually called it organizational porn once, which totally made my day. But besides organizing all my stuff and lining up the pantry in evenly spaced rows, the other OCD part of my personality means I sometimes fixate on something, and then I can’t get it out of my mind. Sometimes for a really long time. Othertimes, I’ll fixate for a while, and then I’ll be done. I promised myself (and my patient hubby) that i promise not to buy anything I’m fixated on until I’ve been fixed on it for at least 6 months. And that so far has been a good rule. Of course, after those 6 months go by, then it’s all fair game. Which is why I have five typewriters. And a giant tub of vintage sheets. And a lot of washi tape. And Pyrex. ….. but I followed my 6 month rule!

Well, this afternoon I started thinking about roller skates. And since it’s only been one day, and I’ve got like 179 days to obsess over them before I can purchase anything, here’s a few favorites I’m obsessing over.

When I was in 1st grade I got a pair of roller skates for Christmas. They were Chicago brand, black with red wheels. And I thought they were the coolest thing on the planet. My mom had looked for ages to find them, and couldn’t find two pair in my size to save her life. (One for me, one for my twin sister). Finally my uncle found two pair of boys skates and got them for my mom. Being only six years old I had no idea that black skates are for boys. That girls were supposed to have white skates. And I didn’t care. I was rolling around the kitchen a good four inches taller than I was before and it was awesome. Seriously, awesome.

I would buy these for Creamie right now except that would be breaking two rules… the six month obsession rule, AND the Don’t buy clothes for Creamie unless she can wear them in the next 12 months rule. But I kind of have a thing for Rainbow Brite. And Roller skates. Does two obsessions cancel two rules?

I came across these sweet little paper dolls the other day created by Australian company Mae. I’ve had a half dozen tabs open ever since so I can sneak a peek at how pretty the all are.

I love them. They come in four sets, one for each of the four seasons. They are made from reusable fabric stickers, so you can peel and stick them over and over again. So pretty. I want one of everything in their shop. (Mae on Etsy, Mae in Australia, and Mae in Europe). Happy Sunday.

Shoe Crush

I have a shoe crush. Only, it’s not just one pair, it’s every pair in every color from designer Chie Mihara. I’ll spare you every picture, but if you go here you can see them all. You might ask, how did you stumble upon a designer that sells shoes for upwards of $300 a pair? Was it from your sister, the resident shoeologist in your life? Nope. I found them all by onesie. And by that I mean I was tipped off by the vintagey fashion blog of Emily Martin (of Black Apple fame.) And now I’m ovsessed and have a million tabs open trying to find these pretties on ebay and endless and wherever else. These shoes are all made in Spain, and their website is all in Spanish. Anyway, here’s a few favorites to brighten up your Thursday.

I think those T-straps on the right are the most perfectly shaped shoe on the planet. Pretty sure.

Love those little be-feathered T-straps so much. So so much. All of their shoes are the perfect shape. I love that rounded not quite almond shaped toe. You can see why I fell in love with these… right? Right?

Tonight we are making very good use of a fantastic Christmas present from Scott’s brother. It’s the most brilliant invention ever. Seriously.

The Skookie. One giant cookie cooked in a small cast iron skillet. Top with vanilla ice cream and consume immediately. I’m in heaven.

A New Dress

Several months ago I saw this dress and immediately fell in love. And a few days ago we were out shopping and I saw it again. On Sale. In my size. I was sure it was a sign, and we brought one home. But it is just so perfect, and now I want three of them.

I decided on blue, but it is much deeper and moodier than this pic shows. It’s such a deep dark beautiful color. And really, could this dress get any more perfect? I love the Jackie-O look, with the pleats, the neckline, the belt, I just LOVE it. But the best part? It has two pockets! I’m in love.

Scott told me I am supposed to wait until Christmas to “open” it. But I’m pretty sure I’m going to wear it to dinner on Monday. It’s our anniversary and he’s planning a surprise…(and by surprise I mean that I know he’s doing it, that we have to leave our house no later than 6:00 pm, and dinner will be involved. And dessert, because I’ll be there to make sure that happens.)

OK, this little bow ring might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I LOVE it. Coach also makes a bracelet version. This is going on my wishlist. I’ts adorable, right? Of course right. Duh.

Creamie loves trucks. Like a lot. The freeway near our house is under major construction, they are adding two lanes each way (Yay!) and building a whole lot of new bridges over it. As a result, the traffic is always slow. (Lame.) But, due to all the slow traffic Creamie has learned to spot her favorite large construction machines. She can tell the difference between front loaders and trackhoes, she knows which one’s are dumptrucks and which are sidumpers. Her favorites are the hoppers, and she never confuses them for a tanker truck. She never fails to point out a crane, or a semi or flatbed. The recent addition of the graders, rollers and pavers was not lost on her little mind. (She’s not even two.)

Anyway, with all that being said, I’m pretty sure this would be the perfect Christmas present for her. Go watch the video (only 20 seconds) and then tell me that isn’t the coolest thing you’ve ever seen. Dad, that’s a hint.

Falling for Fall

I tried to buy boots last year. It was a total disaster. I guess I will need to find a boots consultant (ahem, Heidikins) and then work up to trying it again.

So instead of boots I got these. It’s my fourth pair of pink slippers in a row. But I think that these might be my favorites yet. Now, if only I could find some really great plaid tights (to wear with my make-believe boots) I think I’ll have fall taken care of. Just in time for winter. Ah winter, I’ve missed you.
