And there’s one more thing, more awesome than numbered paper clips and pantone boxes and polka dotted pears.  Last week I posted about 17 year old blogger Rachel.  She desperately needed a few words of encouragement, and to those who went to visit her blog, thank you.  I have been checking up on her each day since she was Love Bombed and you would not believe the difference in her life in just one short week.  It gives me goosebumps to see how a few sentences from a relatively few people could be such an amazing force for good in her life.

“   What I wanted to say, was that your comments couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m ashamed to admit it but I planned on coming home and hurting myself, and well, I wasn’t too worried about the outcome.  When I signed onto my blog to find over 400 comments, I started to read them and was instantly overwhelmed by the love I felt from people I’d never met. It was the best feeling in the world, and as I sit here, a few hours later, it still brings tears to my eyes to think about.   “

In less than one week she went from feeling that no one would notice if she never showed up for life again to this, which she posted yesterday:

“  …Maybe I’m me. And Maybe, for once, being JUST ME is OK.  “

I don’t even know her, but I think my heart has grown three sizes.  There is good in the world, and she has found it.  Those that left her words of encouragement and love showed her where it was.  Watching her find it, has reminded me that it is there.  Who knew, it’s been here on the internet all this time.  Awesome, right?

She can spend45 minutes at a time stacking and restacking her little piles, carefully sorting them with a system apparent only to her.

And when she comes across a little bit that she recognizes she’ll hold it up proudly and say “dress!”  or “bed!” (a scrap from her crib bumper) or “blanket!”

It warms this sewing mama’s heart.

I’ve been really into sketching big purses/tote bags lately.  I saw a really pretty one on Friday night that I think I just might have to try and make.  Actually, I should stop sketching plans in my notebook and just make one already.  And then pretend it’s for school.  Hmm… maybe I’ll do that this week…

And besides the machine, she is giving away lots of other prizes too.  Yards and yards of prizes.  I am dying!  Go check it out, and donate your lunch money for a good cause.  Her raffle is open until the end of August.

First off, let me point out that I have never found pretty Pyrex at this thrift store.  And never on a Saturday.  The building is huge, the parking lot is always full of cars and the store is full of scavengers (people like me who go like 8 times a week looking for something specific and awesome.)  Tucked on a shelf I saw this little cutie, with the lid for $1.50.  Sold.

No sooner had I turned around and I saw her little sister for $1.00.

And then this little bowl peeking around a bigger uglier bowl caught my eye.  He was $.75.  And that makes all three Snowflake Blue Pyrex bowls for a grand total of $3.25.  I was a little bit giddy.  But that wasn’t all.

This large green one came home with me too.  It’s not my favorite color, but it was $1.50.  And I would have felt bad about not buying him forever.  (That might be a slight exaggeration.  Maybe.)

This is my little, but growing, collection of Pyrex.  I only paid $5 for these six pieces.  I have one more but it is in the fridge full of leftovers.  I have posted about Pyrex a few times lately, and I really think it might be my new little crush.    It’s pretty, colorful, useful and cheap (you know, compared to Diamonds and Furniture and Typewriters.)  I am sure I’ll run out of space before I get tired of collecting it.  But I’m just as sure that a lack of space won’t stop me.  My little house ran out of space ages ago, but I still seem to find places to put all of the things I love.

Chris (we should totally be on a first name basis) built this out of a defunct Corona typewriter.  He calls it the Corona-Matic.   Be still my heart!  I know, I’m kind of geeking out about my waffles.  Don’t be mad.

“Ok self, listen up.  Stop adding things to your list.  We’ve got enough stuff on it and we really need to start some crossing things off the list.  (I’m a crosser, not a checker).  I’ve got a NEW list for you to stick to.  Pay attention, these are in order.

• 1)Finish two quilt tops this week.
• 2) Notecards- wait for coupon and then combine with giftcard and get for free. Awesome! So maybe this should have been number three…
• 3) These patterns?  Well, hold them and love them and start thinking about Christmas.
• 4) And the rest of that stack of things to do and places to go and drawers to organize and laundry to fold?  Well, think about that tomorrow.  You are much more successful with three item lists.”

Oh, and one more thing for that list

• 5) Justify purchasing three patterns (they were on sale!) by telling yourself that you returned half of the shirts you bought yesterday, and a sweater from last Christmas. (Really.  It’s been sitting in the bag with the tags and the receipt for MONTHS.  And thank you Kohl’s for giving me all my money back.  And good luck selling a sweater in July.)

The Hop. Skip. Jump Shop is the brainchild of Australian designer/artist Fiona where she sells her patterns and a few amazing softies.  She also has an adorable blog which was one of the very first that I ever bookmarked.  You know, back in those days when I had no idea what a google reader was.  I don’t know how I survived.

Now, I’m going to see what I can do with this Thursday of mine.  I guess I’ll start with number 1- Work on those quilts.  I’ve got everything cut (I think) and now I just need to start sewing.  If I am lucky maybe I can get Scott to do the pressing of seams for me?  Wish me luck on that one!  What’s on your to do list?

• 6) I almost forgot.  I am going to make a cherry pie today, well, if I can get enough cherries pitted and into my bowl before they make it into my mouth.  I love fresh cherries!
